About Fibre King

The company of R.L. Windsor & Son Pty Ltd commenced operation in 1926, in a small engineering shop concentrating on supplying knives and blacksmithing needs to industry. Windsor's grew from fulfilling special machinery needs in the post-war years progressing to supply the sophisticated equipment required for the 21st century.

Among Windsor's developments over the years have been an impressive list of successful projects which included the development of equipment for the dried and fresh fruit industries, a range of plywood presses and handling systems, tree harvesters and high pruners for forestry and the FIBRE KING range of packaging machinery. From the 1950's, Windsor's manufactured saw milling and ply milling machinery, supplying the industry with sawing equipment, log handlers, stackers and feeders and plywood presses and board loading systems.

Windsor's also started manufacturing automated packaging under the Covic-Windsor brand in the 1950's, when they were one of the first Australian companies to offer locally designed and manufactured packaging machinery. Before this time the only packaging equipment available to Australian producers were machines either imported or replicas of overseas products produced under licence. From this beginning emerged the FIBRE KING range, the first of which were the GM1800 case sealers produced in 1962.

In 1965 Amcor Limited, one of Australia’s leading manufacturers of paper products, including the corrugated cardboard boxes used in packaging, purchased a 50% share in Windsor's. Amcor became responsible for the marketing of the FIBRE KING machines, while Windsor's concentrated on machine design, development and manufacture. In 1986 Amcor sold back its shareholding to a group of investors consisting mainly of the Windsor family and the senior management of the company.

In 1984 Windsor's decided to concentrate on packaging machinery due to the cyclical nature of the timber industry market. It set about developing new products for industry, and in that year designed and built its first automatic palletising machine. With the increased demand on its design office, Windsor's implemented its first CAD system in 1985. The system was consistently updated and in late 1991 Windsor's were the first site in Queensland to install the Pro/Engineer Solid Modelling CAD package.

The FIBRE KING range now includes packers, palletisers, crate equipment, robotics and ancilliary materials handling equipment which are sold to both the domestic and international markets. Currently FIBRE KING is trading actively into South East Asia including China, India, Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines, Thailand, and also into South Africa and New Zealand. In the first half of 2006 the company installed an advanced palletising system into mainland Europe.

In 2001 the company moved into a new, purpose built factory / office facility in the outer Brisbane suburb of Clontarf. Late in 2003 the company changed it’s name to FIBRE KING Pty Ltd to reflect the strength of the brand globally.

With 80 years experience in the engineering field, FIBRE KING Pty Ltd pride themselves on offering world leading solutions to their customers' packaging requirements. With this in mind, the engineers and designers from FIBRE KING work with their customers to tailor the FIBRE KING packaging systems to individual customer needs.
